Fearless Guide: How to Be Kind

At Project Fearless, we believe that there are a million ways to work towards a solution. That’s why we’ve started creating Project Fearless Guides, where we share some ideas and tips on how to manage challenging situations, work towards solutions, or make changes for good.

In celebration of World Kindness Day 2022 (November 13th), our latest theme is How to Be Kind 🙏

You’ll find the full guide here, and you can check it out in the Guides section of our Insta feed, too!

Part 1: How to Be Kind to Yourself

🍂 Take a breath of fresh air and enjoy the autumn colours — or whichever season it is where you are!

📚 Take some quiet time to curl up with your favourite book. Or if movement is what makes you happiest, grab a sports buddy and go! ⚡

🎶 Turn your favourite songs up *loud* and dance it outttttt (psstttt… we have the perfect dance anthem in mind! Check out We Are Future Fearless on Spotify 🎧)

✨ Make plans with someone in your life who fills you with laughs and happy energy.

💡 Remember we all make mistakes — they’re just part of the learning process we call life!

💭 Are negative thoughts creeping in? Take a pause, give yourself a hug, and remind yourself they’re just thoughts, and they too will pass 🤗

Part 2: How to Be Kind to Others

😋 Make them a snack, meal or drink you know they love!

✍️ Write them a card, poem or short story — funny or serious, up to you — to tell them how special they are to you. Why not get creative and decorate the page yourself? 🎨

🤗 Next time you’re doing something fun with friends or family, invite them along. Sharing is caring!

🧠 Empathising with other people (making an effort to understand how they’re feeling and why) is helpful when we’re trying to be kind. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. How would you be feeling, and what would you want to hear from a kind, supportive voice?

👂🏾 One of the easiest ways to be kind to others is by listening! Make an effort to actively listen to your friends and others around you. It means a lot to be an ear of compassion.

How will you spread little acts of kindness? ✨

Part 3: How to Be Kind to the Planet

💡 Take a moment to turn off the lights when you leave a room. Same goes for any electronics you don’t need right now!

👀 Feeling a bit bored with your clothes? Rather than buying new, check out a second-hand or vintage shop to find cool pieces. Plus, they’ll be one-of-a-kind — just like you!

🍳 Get creative with your leftovers, to help reduce food waste. Why not make it a household contest to see who can come up with the most delicious idea?

🚴 Instead of travelling by car or bus, can you bike or walk? That’s an easy one for our Fearless followers from the Netherlands 😉

Part 4: How to Be Kind in Unkind Situations

To round up, we’re sharing ideas on how to be kind to people you see experiencing unkindness from others around you…

💬 In a group where someone is being unkind, either to someone’s face or behind their back? If it feels safe to, speak up to say that it’s not okay.

💜 Doesn’t feel right to say something at the time? Talk to the person who’s experiencing the unkindness. Let them know you’re there for them, and see if you can figure out what to do about it together.

💭 Maybe the person who’s being unkind is feeling unhappy, too. Showing them kindness can help them see that they’re also cared for, so they don’t need to put others down to try to feel good about themselves.

👂Talk to an adult or an authority figure you trust, so they know what’s going on and can help you out. Bringing awareness to an unsafe or unkind situation isn’t telling tales, it’s using your voice to help others!

We hope you’ve found this Fearless Guide useful, and we’ll be back soon with more!
