Who is Project Fearless for?

Above all, we want to create a safe and inclusive community at Project Fearless. We welcome young people between the ages of 9-14 who identify with our mission and values to join our programs, including gender fluid, polygender and gender non-conforming people, as well as those who are currently discovering their identity. We’re aiming to build a truly open and accepting environment, so we ask all our participants to share their pronouns at the start of each course. That way, the whole Fearless crew can be addressed how they feel most comfortable.

Why the specific age group?

Ages 9-14 are transformational years in a young girl’s life. These are the years where they start to form their identity and begin to feel pressure from social standards. Often, this can lead to a loss of confidence and resilience. At Project Fearless, we equip them with the tools to succeed in any aspect of their lives by surrounding them with strong, dynamic female role models who are all pursuing their own definition of success. This gives our girls a platform to discover their passions and their voices on their own terms. We also run a Mentor Program for teens aged 15-18, supporting them to develop their own leadership style as they become role models for our younger Fearless girls — find out more here!

What languages are the courses taught in?

Depending on who’s signed up for our courses, they can be taught in both English and Dutch — our coaches and mentors are also happy to translate or help out in either language whenever needed. We encourage our Fearless crew to practise their language skills in an open, non-judgemental space, creating an environment that’s supportive for Dutch and expats alike. The best part of the majority of our courses is that they focus on learning through doing, where getting physically involved is most important!

What if my child is shy, nervous, or has never done anything like this before?

That's totally okay! Our coaches are trained to be open and accommodating towards all types of personalities. We believe everyone has the power to lead and create action, no matter the size of their voice. If you and your girl would like to have a one-on-one intake before their course officially starts, please reach out to Mérida at merida@projectfearless.org. We’d love to meet you!

What if they can’t make it every week?

We strongly believe the best way to create lasting relationships and a safe space with our girls is by seeing them every week; that’s why we rarely offer 1-time workshops. If you don’t think your child will be able to attend every session in the program, we ask that you please leave the space for another girl who will be able to make it 100% of the time. That said, we do understand that emergencies happen! If you unexpectedly can’t make it one week, please let us know via email on the day.

My child doesn’t live in Amsterdam, will you be offering courses in other cities or countries?

Firstly, we’re glad you found us! We are in the early stages of expanding to Rotterdam in 2023 starting with a seasonal event series. And aiming to expand to other locations in future. If you’d like to be the first to hear about our expansion plans please sign up to our newsletter. Or if you’re interested in potentially hosting a branch of Project Fearless in your local area, we’d love to hear from you.

What if my child can’t attend any of the courses this time round?

We’re sad to hear that your child won’t be joining us this time round, but Project Fearless has big plans for the future and we’d love them to be involved. To stay updated on our news and future courses, sign up to our newsletter here.
