“Code Cuisine” goes over 2 hours and consists out of four courses:

The Starter: HTML, CSS & JavaScript: How does a website work? What is the role of each of the three? And what does JavaScript actually 'do' on a website?

First Course: JavaScript is a programming language. So just like any other language you learn vocabulary and grammar to communicate with a computer. We'll learn about variables and functions.

Second Course: In order to draw the 'dish of the day', we need a canvas. For this purpose we are using p5.js and its online editor, which allows us to quickly draw cool things. We'll be taking a tour.

The Dessert: Finally, it's drawing time! Based on what we learnt we will now draw the dish of the day by using simple shapes like triangles, rectangles and circles. It’s time to explore, experiment and ask all your questions!

About me (Valerie!)

Pronouns: She/her

My name is Valerie, I am a German based in Amsterdam and I enjoy making people lol. I work as Full-Stack Engineer for WeTransfer, where I help building and optimising Paste, a web-based tool for making cool presentations.

As technology is in everyone’s life, everybody should be represented in the industry that shapes it. I want to contribute to this cause by making the tech industry more inviting for newbies with a non-technical background, so I started building fun roller coasters that let people slide into coding.
