ABOUT THE PROGRAM
We’re showing girls that no matter the size of their voice, they all have the tools to create change.
This course is for kids who want to use their curiosity and creativity to imagine and build a better world, exploring how to find their voice and make an impact while they do.
We’ll work as a team using ARTivism (art + activism) as our instrument for action. Through experiential learning and hands-on activities, we will blend science experiments with the tools of Futures Thinking to see how individual and collective imagination can create change. Our goal is that you’ll leave us confident in your ability to create impact, at home, in your community or at school. So whether you’re a new or old ARTivist, you can jump into the action!
Over the 8 weeks, the kids will:
+Meet women from different sustainability, science, design and innovation disciplines, to hear about different paths of creative impact and leadership
+Explore sustainability and innovation topics, with hands-on experiments and activities about how they impact our lives and futures (and also a real-life business)
+Get creative and try new artistic methods and tools to communicate societal issues and potential solutions to their community and beyond
+Stretch their current knowledge of sustainability solutions and innovations, and talk about the link between sustainability and social justice
+Try out skills like illustration, engineering, sewing and weaving, paper-making and more!
